James F. O'Brien Jr.
Mr. O’Brien founded and has been the managing member of Promethean (including affiliates and predecessors) since 1994.
Mr. O’Brien graduated Bates College in 1991 with a B.A. in Economics and a secondary concentration in Russian Language. Mr. O’Brien served as a Trustee from 2006-16. During such time Mr. O’Brien worked as a member the Investment Committee and Budget & Finance Committee, among others.
Prior to founding Promethean, Mr. O’Brien served as a Managing Director and Head of Strategic Planning at Fletcher Asset Management, LLC following serving as a financial analyst within the Paper and Forest Products Group at Salomon Brothers.
E. Kurt Kim
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Kim has served Promethean (including affiliates and predecessors) in various capacities since 1997. Since 2004 and 2006 respectively, Mr. Kim has served as Partner and Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to his tenure as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Kim served successively as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Before assuming such executive roles, Mr. Kim served as an Investment Manager and was responsible for the origination, structuring, negotiation, and execution of investment opportunities across a diverse range of industries utilizing a broad array of investment structures.
Mr. Kim also founded PrivateRaise.com LLC (www. PrivateRaise.com) in 2000, an award-winning on-line research service focused on providing comprehensive market intelligence and analysis pertaining to equity and debt (equity-linked) private placements executed by public companies.
Mr. Kim received his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Economics and Government in 1991.
David D. Lee
Director - Direct Investments
Mr. Lee joined Promethean in 2013 and is focused on origination and execution of direct investments/financings.
Prior to joining Promethean, Mr. Lee was CFO at TruBios, LLC where he managed the finance, business development, and corporate development activities at the company. He also served as Partner of TruBios Ventures (an affiliate of TruBios, LLC), where he assisted portfolio companies with strategy and capital formation.
Mr. Lee began his career as a management consultant at Booz-Allen Hamilton and Accenture, advising clients on corporate and IT strategy.
Mr. Lee received his MBA in Finance from Johns Hopkins University in 2005 and B.S. in Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1998.
